torm3nt, The gold is built up from shining gold by adding successive highlights of mithril silver mixed in. I Use very thin paint and lots of layers to get a smooth transition. The gold sections also got various glazes with imperial purple and brown ink. Adding the purple really makes the gold look allot less yellow and gives that nice aged look. The freehand was added with layers of brown ink, again watered down and applied layer after layer to build up the colour. The good thing about the ink is that the metalic pigment can still shine through it and you get the metalic look with very little hassle.

Very nice conversion. Love the base and the little candle holder thingy (Not a 40K player). Well done

Question telstar, what did you use for the highlights on the gold? I'm doing a similar gold on my WIP marine, and would like a few tips :)
