Cadian 161st 'Ashtongues'
by torm3nt, added 10th Jan 2008
This is my largest project to date (though small, it may be). It is also the first project I've actually stuck to. This follows a 750 pt army list and the aim is to create an IG army that looks both original, and great on the tabletop. All comments welcome!

I cheated. It's the GW sand/gravel mix they sell. Makes it easy but is a tad pricy. Though I think it will last more more than a few armies. heh

Where'd you get/make the sand/gravel mix? I've got a guard army myself and a city style base or one similar to yours would be suitable.

Hi astroboy. The sergeant was put on after the sand/gravel mix, the rest were put on beforehand. Application was done in 2 steps: PVA glue, then sand/gravel mix (i think this gives a more realistic "ground" for the miniatures, rather than the sand all being one form of coarseness), which is then brushed over with a watered-down mix of PVA glue.

I was wondering how you did your bases. What did you use and did you stick the sand stuff down first then the man or the man first?

Thanks a lot astroboy. I have trouble highlighting to extremes, so most of my miniatures have a far more subtle approach. Glad you like it =)

These look excellent. The highlighting is only really noticeable in that the shadows look real rather than harsh highlighting. It really suits the models. A whole army of these would look awesome.
